If you are seeking training outside of our regular season practices you can find some great info and resources here. Some of these require either a brick wall (hopefully without windows) or a rebounder, others can be done with just grass or carpet
One of my favorite coaches who offers very detailed fundamental and high level training can be found at powlax.com . Patrick also has videos and tutorials on YouTube
Some of our favorite topics he covers are offense and defensive strategies. They are very in depth and probably too high level for youth up until about 5th or 6th for advanced players.
He also has some 10 minute wall ball routines that kids of any age can try. 15-20 minutes of wall ball a day will give a tremendous return in a short amount of time
Lacrosse training does not need to be expensive. My older son has received a lot of great free training from Facebook and Instagram.
If you search Facebook or Instagram for lax goalie rat (I know it’s a weird name) he has a few goalie summits live each year. We have learned a lot from Pro, DI DII and DIII goalies, and got to speak with Mr Wanderfull who strings a lot of those great goalies sticks. Plus we won a couple prizes all for free from coach Damon. There are a few others but he is by far my favorite
This is a very specialized position in lacrosse that can have a dramatic impact on the game. We face off after every goal, so if we can win 70% of them it’s hard for the other team to even possess the ball. On the flip side it makes for a long defensive day if it’s the other way around. Three great resources are from current and former pro players Joe Nardella faceofffactoryand Greg (the beast) Gurenlians Beast lab. Both men are legends at the face off x; but have completely different styles. Both have a lot of videos on YouTube . Another great free resource!
A lot of these are advanced skills, but if you would like your son to learn about them. Here they are! They will cover all positions, and almost all of the videos are from college coaches
We come back to Powlax again. He offers courses that coaches can take (fee involved) but you can access all the videos for free without signing up for anything! These videos were of his coaching training for his club.
