5th/6th

Youth lacrosse team Dayton Ohio after our last lacrosse game

Overall experience

We continue our lacrosse journey continuing to build our fundamentals, and expanding on our 3/4 knowledge. By now most kids have figured out what positions the love and which ones they like less. We will still ask most people to play all positions, but we will try to put them into positions they are finding success at.

Long poles can now be introduced to players who have gained stick skills using short sticks. More advanced offensive, defensive, face off, and clearing techniques will be introduced

Offense

As we get ready for middle school level play more advanced concepts will be introduced, more formations, set plays, and a very heavy emphasis on passing/catching and riding will be placed on them.

Defense

By this time we start to see goalies who really like the position, and not because they don’t need to run. This is when the goalie should become the defensive leader guiding and coordinating the rest of the defense on slides and clears. learning to rotate properly and easily identifying offensive strategies and how we defend them now become paramount to their success

Required equipment

The equipment required to play is a big upfront expense and creates a barrier to entry for some families. we reduce the cost of anyones first year to the cost of the jersey to help get more kids playing the sport

They will need nocsae approved equipment to play

helmet (white or athletic gold preferred but any color works), gloves, stick, elbow pads, shoulder pads, cleats (soccer/football/lacrosse all work) and a mouth Gaurd (not white or clear so the refs can see it)
